The Town and Port of Stornoway

Stornoway, the capital of the Western Isles and the main port of the Isle of Lewis, has plenty to see and do. It even has an art centre and cinema with a restaurant and café chill out area with WiFi connection.

A newly built sports centre has gym facilities and a 25m pool, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi, for the more leisurely days and for those who want to be a little more energetic a pleasant walk or cylcle around the castle grounds that has wonderful views across the harbour and ocean. It also has many native tress and plants plus ones from around the globe.

There are plenty of cafes, bars and restaraunts around the town which cater for most diets. There is also a library and museum which holds records of the history of the Western Isles.

Every July the town hosts the Hebridean Celtic Festival and up to 10,000 people come to hear a wide range of the best of Celtic orientated music.
